Temperature Detector for Motor Stator and Generator Winding Protection with Protective Case
This type of temperature detector (RTD) is installed in the groove of the stator of motors and generators to monitor the temperature rise and avoid excessive heating that damages the insulation of the machine.
The RTD is embedded inside a protective case of insulating material so that the stator coil is evenly packed along the groove. This method also allows the RTD to be installed at any time in the stator.
The National Electric Manufactures Association (NEMA) recognizes RTD for stator as a protection standard for motor and generator.
Unlike on / off devices, RTDs provide continuous monitoring of the temperature and with this it is possible to carry out an evaluation of the data obtained over time and thus, when there is a temperature rise outside the continuous regime of the machine, measures can be taken. before any alarms happen.
The sensitive elements of the RTD are along its length providing an average reading of the stator temperature. This eliminates the problem of hot spots going unnoticed on the machine.
The sensitive element is manufactured in such a way that there are no errors in measurements when subjected to strong electromagnetic fields, normally found in rotating electrical machines.
As the RTDs are installed in the slots of the stator winding, the connection cables end up traveling huge paths inside the machine to the connection box and therefore are also subject to these electromagnetic fields that can interfere with the signal of the cables. To eliminate this problem, we provide shielded cables for connecting the RTD to the terminal box.
The RTDs manufactured by Fensys satisfy the specifications of ANSI C50.10-1990, general requirements for synchronous motors.
Dual RTD for the stator winding provides extra protection for motors and generators. The second element can be used to monitor the temperature near the machine while the other is used in the control room.
